Across the Canal
Oil on canvas32 x 42 x 3cm
In this painting we are voyeurs looking through the trees at the houses across the canal. There is some mystery. We don’t know the people in the houses. The sanguine trees are like sentinels. Vertical, always working, consuming carbon dioxide and producing oxygen for the people. They provide shade for the path users - joggers, walkers, readers, texters and voyeurs. The cool, languid canal provides a calming horizontal balance to the composition.
In this painting we are voyeurs looking through the trees at the houses across the canal. There is some mystery. We don’t know the lives of the people in those castles across the moat. The sanguine trees are solid, vertical sentinels. Never sleeping, they consume carbon dioxide and produce oxygen for the people. They provide shade for the path users - joggers, cyclists, walkers, readers and voyeurs. The cool, languid canal provides a calming horizontal balance to the composition.
