Patterns in Nature, 2011
Collograph, Ink, charcoal & conte on BFK
75 x 83cm (framed)
Patterns that the natural world leaves behind, these patterns formed either by the struggle of survival or the change of seasons allows the viewer a glimpse into the way time affects the existence of things.
In this work I have used a Collograph of a tree fern to allow a sense of the bracken that covers the ground, surrounding our gum trees in forests. The limb I have depicted in Charcoal and ink has what is almost like a birth mark that stains its branch. Working in these 2 mediums I hope to convey a sense of the diverging materials and patterns of the natural world.
