Waratahs (Telopea Speciosissima)
Acrylic on canvas, wooden frame, LED lights
55 x 26cm
Standing tall and proud, the waratah elegantly boasts its brightly crimson flowers at this time of the year. I love how its colour unexpectedly pops out of the greenness during our walks. I love that it is the official floral emblem of our state. And I love that its name comes from Eora Aboriginal word ‘warada’ which means ‘beautiful’.
The waratah is the perfect flower to paint into an Orsini Light, allowing the flower heads to shine brightly and sprightly as the lamp is turned on.
