Cloudy Day on Hawthorne

Around two months ago, at the beginning of the winter school holidays, I was on a walk with my Mum and my dog along the Hawthorne Canal, a part of the Greenway very close to my house. Having decided to paint something for the art competition, I took some quick snapshots of the path whilst walking. I chose to paint this one because I liked the way the path curves beneath the trees, and the way the lone walker gives some movement to an otherwise still scene. During the (many) hours I spent on this painting, I have gained a greater appreciation for the variety of textures in the trees along the Greenway, the way light bounces off objects in the environment, and the shapes and colours in the world around me.
