One of the Port Jackson figs near the Hawthorne canal Tennis Courts had a great bird song coming from it. I'd never seen nor really known about a fig bird and yet as I got under the tree I said aloud 'it sounds like a fig bird'?! Then I caught a glimpse of that great red eye and the moment stays with me .... still the only glimpse I've had, though friends see them at the Cooks river.
