Industrial Striation is a motif that recurs in my practice in varied forms. It is indicative of socio-economic change over a lifetime brought up in a family owned factory environment. It is working class symbol of areas such as the Cook’s river surrounds with the dense built landscape eventually giving way to a greener environment without losing its industrial character to remind us of its functional present and past. The painting though clearly referenced leans heavily on the poetic values of abstraction. Its structure and orchestrated elements are designed to create a resonating presence.
