It's a Beautiful Day

Many human feet walk the paths along the Cook’s River, however, the resident Kingfishers who call this habitat home will often remain elusive. The Cook’s River Kingfishers will consistently return to familiar branches. These branches, are suspended over the muddy mangroves and are now well worn by the Kingfishers who watch, and wait, and then dive into the mud to retrieve Mud Crabs from their burrows along the low tide mark. I have always photographed the Kingfishers on the southern side of the Cook’s River and my camera consistently faces into the sun! These conditions make photographing these birds very difficult. My photograph has been edited to give character to this very charasmatic bird, salvaging details such as texture, colour and character, yet embracing and celebrating the challenges of the location in pursuit of the perfect shot!
