As a local resident backing onto Johnson’s Creek, a nearby waterway, I’m often witness to natures forceful wrestle and regrowth within a built environment. My work leans towards intuitive abstraction, although I’ve chosen to explore a hint of figuration to reflect the theme. This small painting is a nod to the GreenWay’s relatively brief yet turbulent history since colonial settlement and urbanisation – industrialisation and degradation evolving to regeneration and renewal.
