Missing Jigsaw Pieces - remnants of the Turpentine-Ironbark Forests

recycled china on upcycled vase substrate
47 x 25 x 15cm

Portrayed in this sculptural work, using the concept of reuse and recycled media is the idea of urban ecological restoration. The diminished pre-European vegetation patterns of Sydney Turpentine-Ironbark Forests that once spread within the Cooks River to Iron Cove GreenWay Valley are part of a broader strategic plan to revegetate piece by piece. This provision for a continuous vegetation and habitat corridor gives the opportunity to further establish a wildlife and biodiverse passageway in an urban context, blending ‘nature and culture’ for local communities.
