People use the Greenway every day and the beautiful environment provides opportunities for space and renewal. While never far from the bustle of traffic, buildings and transport there are many places where people can go to find solitude and peace. In this set of 6 small paintings I wanted to show people going about their activities un-self-consciously and using the Greenway as part of their everyday lives. At the same time they are depicted in relatively small scale compared to the towering trees, open spaces and dense foliage around them, symbolizing the need for people to interact respectfully and harmoniously with the natural world rather than dominating it. The sharp delineation of light and shadow emphasizes the quality of light at various times of day, adds interest and provides dramatic effect in the artworks.
