The essence of this drawing refers to the precarious state of our small wildlife, seeking refuge in dense plant forms, trying to maintain their lives against the forces of nature, in particular the humanity that dominates the inner city. This drawing was inspired by a small, very complex flower head, but as I drew it became more monumental, and small creatures and bird-like forms started to emerge, reminiscent of the small animals most city dwellers are unaware of, despite their presence so close by.
