A river through lush green lands Washes gold to seas And trees whose weathered hands Drink the sky’s breeze Along the Cooks River watercourse (just down from the footbridge) the trees that line the pathway reach out with weathered hands, welcoming you to 'their world'. These large well established trees have stood the test of time. They are warriors ... they are survivors of years of destructive urban development and industry, and continue to provide harmonic surroundings to the birdlife, animals, plants and people that call the area home. I’ve named my artwork 'Trunk-ation' as I feel that the lives of many of these trees over the years have, in a sense, been truncated ... ('stopped short' or 'cut off'). However with the aid of a long-term health improvement strategy now in place everything about the Greenway reminds me of nature's energy to restore its own multilayer beauty to days gone by.
