My connection to the park at Hawthorn canal was due to my Mum who lived in the Marion in Leichhardt for a period of ten years. We visited the park many times to enjoy nature, watch the bird life and people with their dogs and to enjoy the trees and the windy pathways. After she died I painted and drew the area a number of times but this year I began a group of charcoal drawings that were pared back. I wanted to express the energy in nature and the things that remain after we die.
