Reflecting

Part of the Greenway shares its space with the Inner West light rail corridor. The rail line provides environmentally friendly transport, and the land around it, habitat for plants, animals, fungi and other living things. The stations themselves can provide the bases of some interesting images very likely missed or ignored by the hundreds of people passing through these apparently utilitarian areas each day.

This photo was taken at Taverners Hill after a downpour. The image is paradoxical as the positive sky and mesh reflections become background while the negative space in the shadows the subject. The lithographic print like figure and built structure defy their concrete solidity as they float without footings in the composition. It’s the patterns, surprises, details and the extraordinary in the ordinary that interest me.
